Viclope is established as the IT services company of a Spanish industrial group made up of multiple companies that manufacture throughout Spain, some of them with almost 90 years of history.
Improve the monitoring of your IT infrastructure
The IT infrastructure managed by Viclope is distributed across various locations throughout Spain, including factories and offices. The monitoring platform was based on infrastructure located in one of the central data centers (the one in Madrid), which meant that if a line to one of the 18 factories in Spain went down, monitoring of that factory's infrastructure was lost. Furthermore, the tool Viclope was using had technical limitations.
The new monitoring solution needed to be more advanced, scalable, and secure, and useful given the organization's dispersed infrastructure.
Platform based on Checkmk and Grafana in a distributed configuration
The migration of the monitoring solution to make it more functional was based on the deployment of a platform based on two products:
Checkmk
For monitoring IT assets (with a distributed environment in a Checkmk master and several slaves).
Checkmk is an infrastructure monitoring solution that natively offers a multitude of plug-ins and integrations with standard market technologies, providing monitoring potential and versatility far superior to that of its historical competitors.
There is a free version of Checkmk (which is perfectly useful for most organizations) and a paid version (albeit low-cost) that offers extra features over the free version (better performance, reporting, etc.).
Grafana
For the representation of information.
Grafana is currently the most widely used Dashboarding tool by IT departments worldwide.
Just as Checkmk has a free and a paid version; it allows the creation of modern and visually powerful dashboards by configuring almost any data source as a Data Source (being able to unify information from Checkmk and other sources in one dashboard).

ToBeIT has analyzed the use of the current platform, identifying shortcomings and defining performance measurement standards for critical infrastructure indicators, the necessary tags, and all the information needed to carry out an efficient and non-intrusive deployment.
Subsequently, the different products have been deployed, the necessary configurations have been carried out, and the predefined dashboards have been prepared.
All the work has been developed with a joint Viclope – ToBeIT team that has facilitated the necessary knowledge transfer.
